PASSATA MAKING WORKSHOP
Friday 13th (SOLD OUT) and Saturday 14th March
9am- 1pm Inclusive of Garden pick and tour, processing, cooking, preserving and eating!
Join Laura and Francesco our in house gardener and chef for a hands-on day all about making traditional Italian passata from scratch.
In this intimate workshop (limited to 15 participants), you’ll learn every step of the passata-making process — from preparing the tomatoes to bottling your finished sauce and of course.. sitting down to an Italian feast of Pizza, Pasta and side serves for a long lunch.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Garden Tour and harvest Tomatoes and Basil
- Wash, cut and core the tomatoes and process them using traditional techniques
- Fill bottles with your freshly made passata and learn techniques for preserving
Each participant will get a hands-on experience with every stage and will create their own batch of passata to take home. (Note: Bottles will need to be boiled for 1-2 hours. It is during this time that we will sit for lunch Please ensure adequate time is allowed for this.)
You will take home 2 passata bottles
Cost is $195.00 per person
Apperitivo platter, Spritz, Lunch and glass of Riserva Nebbiolo included (other wines available to purchase on the day)
You will be given a recipe to take home for future references

Class bookings are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend your class, you must notify us at least 5 business days prior if you wish to transfer to another class or receive a credit voucher for the value of the class,
Cancellations made within 5 business days or less of the class date are unable to be transferred or credited. You are welcome to send someone in your place by notification and with details of your replacement, or otherwise, your spot will be forfeited.
Every effort will be made to not change or cancel classes, but in case of sickness or emergency, we reserve the right to change the date of the class and in the event of a class not proceeding, a credit or full refund will be made.
We do not hold spots. Your place in a class is only confirmed when full payment is received.
All participants must be over 18 years of age.
Please wear appropriate clothing including closed toe and non-slip shoes appropriate for kitchen environments. Long hair must be tied back. Sun protective wear for the garden pick and tour. Pease bring along a water bottle.
You will be provided with food, water and wine during the day. We are only able to accommodate Vegetarian diet and Gluten Free Pizza only.
When participating in classes, attendees will be around or using sharp and potentially dangerous tools suitable to a kitchen environment, the attendee releases, indemnifies and Mr Barval Fine Wines and its employees from any and all liability to property or person of any kind for any damage or injury or illness incurred while attending or visiting Mr Barval Wines.
We ask that you do not attend the workshop if you are showing signs of illness such as cough, cold or fever. In this case the above cancellation policy stands.
